• The gift that keeps giving

Last night was a late one. Last minute wrapping and stocking stuffing and the like. I only slept for about 4 hours. That was still long enough to be visited by you in a terrible nightmare. You were sitting by yourself in a restaurant, or maybe it was a bar, I’m not really sure. I sat down opposite you and noticed that sitting at the other tables were my married friends with their wives. As I began to pour my heart out to you, it became clear you had invited my friends there. You savagely rejected me, berating me in front of my friends. I sat there feeling worthless and my friends all walked past me to leave. One of them snickered to his wife “pathetic” as they passed me. Then I woke up and tried to forget my nightmare.

I guess that was an omen of things to come. I tried wishing you a merry christmas. Of course I got no response. Who knows, maybe I don’t remember your number right, maybe you blocker me, maybe you have a new phone number. I’ll never know.

Well anyways, I know you’re here so merry Christmas.
