• And so it goes…

I was on my journey. I was tired and decided to take a detour and rest for a moment. It seemed harmless and the fire was warm and inviting.
Oh, but the fire! I became mesmerized by the flames, you see. There was an accident! Something important – something I was supposed to defend with my life – fell into the flames, among the red hot embers and ghostly glow. Impulsively, I reached into the fire and saved it from ruin. But not without the pain that would follow. Why was I so stupid and careless? I’ve come this far and have overcome so many obstacles only to be enticed by… By what? A phantom. A fantasy.
The scars will fade but they’ll always be there to remind and embarrass.
    And so it goes…

Yeah, the fire is so dangerous because it’s enticing… but you escaped, not unscathed but with a lesson hopefully well-learned.

They didn’t deserve my time. Couldn’t risk something so important…

if you are ’embarrassed’ by your action, there usually is pride and a fake or inflated ego involved (“I am perfect”), humans are flawed, we all are , at best we can try to not do too much harm, anyone who doesn’t understands this is unevolved , bigoted , narrow minded , narcissistic and very boring , ….a Trump supporter …

Oh wow, I really needed that laugh. Thanks! Sorry to derail your little sanctimonious diatribe here, but I voted for Obama both times and was a huge Bernie supporter. I also voted for Kerry and Gore. A person who lashes out with no facts? Forget being a Trump supporter, you ARE Trump. Cut from the same cloth of knee-jerk ignorance.

There’s nothing wrong with admonishing yourself when you realize how silly things got after the smoke clears.

Further, I have made plenty of mistakes and horrible decisions in my life, but in this case I knew better. Without the details of what was at risk, you have no place to judge or assess anything. Very Trumpy of you, your Trumpiness.
