• The noise in the silence

The sun sets and a calm lull falls over the neighborhood
In the quiet hours the noise is overwhelming
My heart beats with a heavy melancholy thud
My failures chant like a mocking child
My dreams belch out like a balloon in its final throws of deflation
The miserable dirge of loneliness grinds on
The noise torments me, it steals away my peace
Buried in amongst that ruckus I seek the soft note
The beautiful melody of hope that once sung out so loudly
The tune that inflated my dreams and made my heart resonate
    Where have you gone?
I could use a tune like that right now
