I’ll never know why you just walked out on our love when everything seemed to be going so well.
I’ll never know if you ever really cared at all.
If you did, then I’ll never know what changed your mind.
And I’ll never know if everyone’s going to turn around and break my heart.
I’ll never know why you seemed so loving and sweet, and now you’re gone.
And I’ll never know if you still feel anything, guilt maybe, or just pity for the person you destroyed.

And she’ll never know about me and you, and everything you did.
In some ways, that’s a bad thing, she deserves to know.
But it’s probably better that you don’t get to ruin her life too.

(Waves tricorder in earnest.) “She’s dead, Jim.”

“If brevity is the soul of wit…”, well then, no need to state the obvious.
