Effortlessly I am floating in the ocean
Carried along by the gentle current, unnoticeable
    Seemingly without aim or direction
Yet it is a vast circular pattern, an oceanic loop
I find myself washed up next to you
At the stretch of beach that is our past

As if no time has passed
    Yesterday becomes today
    We merge into one
    The soft sand gently caressing
The sound of the waves soothing
We gaze at each other in silence
No need for words, as all has been said many times
the sun’s warm rays soothing our souls, mending our broken hearts
The ocean’s breeze the gentlest, purest of sounds

    We are at peace
    Just you and me
    Heavenly bliss
    Time is standing still
Like magic all wounds have healed
No desires or needs, no pain or sorrow nor regrets
    Just by being together
On the beach, that is our past.

But the tide is rising without us noticing
It’s rhythmic gentle waves inching up slowly
Unnoticed, the ocean has surrounded us

The waves gently lapping, they lift and carry me
Away from you, the water rising fast
Back and along the infinite current’s loop
Away from the small stretch of sand
    That is our past

As I float I find I do not fight the current
Unable to move all I can do is glance back at you on the sand
You are sleeping, dreaming, you are happy, at peace
You do not notice the rising tide
And I oblige, give myself to the rushing current that pulls me out
As my tears join the ocean, the place they belong
I try to call your name but find I am mute, I cannot say good bye
Instead my heart and soul smile at you
wishing for all your hopes and desires to come true

As night falls I float and watch the silent stars above
I dream of you and our beach while I surrender to the waves,
The blood moon watches my ocean’s dance which is for you
Though from my sight the beach is gone thousands of miles
Not so from my heart, which is at peace and filled with hope
That the loop that is our life
Will one day carry me back to the little beach
That is and always will be our past, for all eternity

After too many years of ego and sadness and anger and reactions and breaking off pieces of my heart for and because of others, I know I’ll never be returning to that same place. The current has taken me far away. Your letter reminds me of why despite all of the insanity I still look back with such…

I really hope you make your way back to your beach, OP.

I Hope that ‘the current’ has taken you to a really good place, one filled with new love, supportive friends, peace and also new adventures so that one day, you too can look back at your past without pain and regret. I wish you good luck !
