You came into my life, I wasn’t looking for love.
Every moment since the start seemed so perfect,
we never planned but it always was just right.
We didn’t know what we had, we were only living in the moment.
The laughter, the kisses, my hand in yours.
I let my guard down, I let you in.
I knew I was falling in love.
    You were always there.
I would wake up and night and look at you beside me.
    I let myself dream.

I knew you weren’t ready to let me in,
there was a wall behind your eyes, my smile couldn’t soften,
a coldness that my love couldn’t melt.
I waited and loved. You were always there.

That night, I woke up in a cold sweat.
I knew the worst had happened.
    My heart screamed.
    My world diminished.

I wear a smile, but carry the hollowness
    of your lost love.
The wind blows away the hopes.
The world I knew, gone, a sandcastle lost at sea

    I was alone in love.
