They tell me were the same. Brown eyes, brown hair, a chin impossible to mistake. They say we laugh the same, and our eyes scrunch up when we have a bright idea, and we hold our heart with our hand when something happens that is poignant or meaningful.
I used to love this. Used to love how I was always connected to you. But I’m not like you. I’m not your screaming tantrums or your anger or your sensitivity or your blame. I refuse to be a mother like you are. I will be the opposite of you. I can’t change my blood but I can change my outlook. And mine will not be like yours. I will not be so angry. I’m not you.
