Hopefully I’ll be able to word my thoughts eloquently, because if you were actually here in front of me I would fail to do so.

I think I first knew when your name popped up on my phone with some sarcastic retort to an errant comment, and felt the soft fluttering wings of a long lost feeling in my stomach.

I knew you were out of my league when i saw her picture, and though my body paled in comparison to hers, I wanted to know all of your dreams, fears, hopes and aspirations…and you continued to astonish me with your thoughtful remarks.

They said you were dangerous, and that she had gotten through to you, only to break your heart…but they haven’t learned all the things I have, because they haven’t bothered to see past the facade you put on.

They don’t know what I know, (though they may be prettier).

And they don’t want you as much as I do, (because they’ll always leave).

I’ll wait as long as it takes for you to open your eyes to this.
