Who knew that a line from a book would stick in my head for years?
“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
Looking past the poor grammar, I’ve found myself whispering those words to the children I babysit. Reminding them if no one else is that they are kind, smart, and important.
Who knew that those words would help me get over an eating disorder?
I don’t need to be a stick to be kind, to be smart, to matter to someone else.
Do you know that you’re kind, smart, and important? A lot of people out there don’t know that. I hope you do. It will change your world.
