You Smile

You smile at me come take my hand
And I will be the one who stands
Against the waves against the grain
Shielding you from all life’s rain
Cause I know I love you baby
You’re the one I’m waiting for
And so I pray that someday maybe
You’ll be mine wrapped tight and warm
A simple smile the perfect look
A gentle song that softly took
All life’s filth and all life’s grime
With a simple kiss deemed a crime
For years you fought long and hard
Your hands all bruised and charred
Staying strong, you fought one for two
Now I’ll be life’s shield for you
You smile at me come take my hand
And I will be the one who stands
Against the waves against the grain
Shielding you from all life’s rain
Your heart’s cry reigns in my sleep
Blissful pains for my soul’s keep
Wagging war on domestic land
Bloods shed; on firm ground we stand
Who ever knew peace meant war
But down she creped through that door
Never meaning to precedent a score
Our motives were only true and pure
Never mind life’s folly from here before
Apologies should be checked at the door
Disregard your humility in this game
Cause it’ll be played on as your shame
Don’t fret in sleep or worry yourself
God’s your audience, there’s no one else
My hand is warm for you to hold
Let’s walk this life strong and bold
Cause I know I love you baby
You’re the one I’m waiting for
And so I pray that someday maybe
You’ll be mine wrapped tight and warm

… beautiful sentiments. All you have to do now extend your hand and hold on tight. Fear not for life’s grand finale is the best – trough it all.
Pray if you may, but never forget to take action to make it so yourself.
This poem made me smile. As I drank in the words I saw warm colors shoot straight to my heart. Lovely!
Beautiful.
Beautiful, thank you.
This is quite lovely.
This made my heart dance
