To all best friends. My best friends, his best friends, her best friends. All best friends.

    Thank you.

Thank you for being there. Thank you for your hugs, for your laughs, for your tears.

Thank you for your listening ears, for keeping my secrets and sharing yours.

Thank you for teaching me what a person should be like. What loyalty is. What real, true, raw, sometimes heartbreaking but mostly beautiful, love is.

Mostly, thank you for making me who I am.

I want you to know how beautiful you are. I know sometimes that life gets hard. The storm clouds roll in and the rain won’t stop pouring. I’ve been there too. And when my storm seemed to rage on forever, you didn’t calm the storm, no, but you taught me to dance in it. And you know what? No matter what flaws you think you have, always remember this: you taught someone, somewhere, to dance in the rain. And that is the most beautiful thing in the world. Even when they ignored you, yelled at you, said things they didn’t mean, placed other things above you… you were always there, in the background, ready to dance.

That is beautiful. You, best friend, are beautiful.

So here is my promise to you:

I will never stop dancing. And I will never stop waiting, waiting for when YOU need someone to teach YOU how to dance.

Chin up, best friend, and never give up. Someone, somewhere, needs you. They need your smile, your dance, your life.

    Keep on dancing.

    Someone who needs you.
