people used to be afraid of falling off the edge of the world, because they were told it was flat and didn’t dare to find out for themselves. then, one day two people were talking history and science and realized there was something missing from all the textbooks… there was plenty of logic, but the right answers to the wrong questions made for students (who turned into teachers) full of doubt and fear. Their inaction turned to complacency too often, until boredom gave birth to thoughts that reached further than their eyes could see. two people took a chance and dreamed of conquering the world… if they fell off the planet, then at least they tried. dreams turned into goals and thought turned into action.
they say we’re doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past if we don’t learn from history, but i didn’t get that lesson in Ancient History, because I was skipping school and falling in love with a boy watching Star Wars and arguing about whether it was Padme’s fault or Anakin’s fault they fell in love… i’m just a nerd and a fool and a dreamer and a brilliant student who always aggravated her teachers for not reaching her full potential, but i’ve learned the value of sitting in silence with someone you care about and the worth of taking a chance on the right person. i fell, hard, and had the strength to get back up and try again even though the ground hurts and the shame is almost enough to paralyze me. but almost isn’t good enough when it comes to really living, and you never appreciate the air you breathe until you’re lying in the dirt, seemingly dying and realize your heart is still beating and your body is still ready for more.
