I’m looking for empathy in all the wrong places
looking for someone to fill all the spaces
left when the floor dropped from under you
and left me hugging at the air
in which your scent still consumes me
    reminding me of past times
better spent with you than relived in pain
So I’m left with the shattered pieces
of a heart once full of love
and all I can do is throw those pieces
    to these midwest winds
and pray that fate carries them home
    and makes them one again

I miss you and love you more than you could know and I pray every night that fate finds us together again.

This is so beautifully written. The emotion is so raw
