We’re talking about love. This classroom conversation is too intense.
We’re going around the room filling in the blank:
    Love is ________.
I said, “if it hurts, it’s not love.”
Because I took my past, and learned.
I didn’t fill in the blank.
In fact, I rearranged the blank and only used one word from the original assignment. I messed up the order.
And some little voice in the back of my head told me you would get mad at me for doing that.
You’d scream and not let it go and you’d say I always do that and you can’t stand it. Or me.
But you weren’t here to hear me. No one asked your opinion or for you to fill in the ________ blank.
Because you don’t love me. And I love myself too much for that.
