This is for the guys like me. For the best friend, to the crying shoulder, the middle of the night call recipient- you know what I mean. This is for the guys who are so close yet so far. You watch her slip away, and then come back, and then you have a chance and then- bam. Nothing. This is for the guys who have wiped away the tears, made her laugh, just to see her smile. This is for the guys who write poem after poem or song after song, but never get the chance to perform it This is for the guys who sit and wonder “Why me?” This is for the guys who are stuck in the friend zone, but could imagine spending your entire life with her. You’re the tutor, the best friend, the coach, the therapist- all beautiful things, but not the title you deserve. This for all those guys just like me- hoping, dropping hints, proving that chilvary isn’t dead.

So here’s to hope, gents. Here to hope that we’ll no longer be the guy like that.
