    Dear Dad,

You drank, you smoked, you swindled money, you sold our house, you sold mom’s jewelery, you drove me away from you, you taught me how to walk, you fought with everyone to let me study outside our small town, you never said I love you, you never hugged me the way I used to hug you, you didn’t like the fact that your second child was a girl and a rebellious one.

There are tonnes of things I don’t like about you. But today as I am embarking on a new journey of my life I just want to tell you that I will not carry what I learnt from you. I will make my own mistakes and thank you for them. You never let me down as a father, you always managed to provide for us. However, I will never be the parent you were. I will be more expressive and more responsible
    .
Your son-in-law always says, “We are never bad at heart, sometimes the situation makes us do certain things.” I guess I will believe him. Not because I agree to it, but because it’s the easiest way out to think about everything but the things in the first paragraph.

Be good to my mom because I am not around to take care of her. She is the heart of our family. Keep dreaming, you never know which one might come true.
