• Waiting for the Storm

You came into my life like a rush of waves crashing into the shore, breaking down any walls that stood in your way of getting to my heart.

You stole it, and held it close to your own.

With every breath you breathed, you brought me closer to you, until the sweet salted ocean air was all that surrounded me.

You became my world, everything that I ever imagined I could want. You were my first love, my only love.

And with one mistake, the tides are now returning to sea and I am left shaken and confused. Alone on the beach I watch your beauty from a distance, wanting to reach you but cannot seem to no matter how much I try. My arms tremble, desperate for something to hold but coming up short.

As I stand and realize what I have lost, and what I cannot get back, my heart just breaks. When will the next storm wash ashore, bringing new waves crashing into my rocky shore?

    I stand here, waiting.

    Waiting for love.
