    Dear Best Friend,                                                                                                     3.28.10

I would give you the clothes off my back. I would give you all the money in my wallet. I would be there to answer the phone in the middle of the night. I would allow you to stay at my house for weeks at a time. I would be there if a boy broke your heart, with a carton of ice cream and your favorite movies in my bag. I will be there when you get married and have children.

I would take a bullet for you.

Sometimes though, you make me frustrated. You’re too much of a goody two shoes when it comes to some stuff. You have your license; the law says you can drive your friends around. You don’t drive us but then your planning on getting a tattoo of a shooting star. I understand if you don’t want to pick us up. But sometimes it’s a 5-minute drive but a 35-minute smelly bus ride.

I would take a bullet for you.

School isn’t everything. You know this. You show it every time you’re on facebook when you’re supposed to be studying or you text me while you’re in class. I don’t do that. Sometimes you act like your so much better because you’re the one who is in a University while I got pushed back to community college. You over exaggerate all the time, but when it comes to my problems, you’re relaxed. You’re going to graduate, and your going to get a job, and your going to be an amazing teacher.

I would take a bullet for you.

You and your sister always fight. You bicker about the dumbest stuff. She says the sky is blue and you insist its baby blue. Sometimes I just want you to stop fighting. It gives me a headache. Nobody likes headaches. You’re always there to defend her when she fights with others, even if you know she is wrong.

I would take a bullet for you.

You look thinner every time I see you. You have Jamba Juice for lunch and skip breakfast. You know that your family is worried about you but you string them along. You won’t take anyone’s help. If your roommate said something I bet you would change in a second. Your life would change if you saw how we see you.

I would take a bullet for you.

We’ve been friends since freshman year of high school. We know when the other is pretending to be happy even when we’re ready to break down. We like the same restaurants, and have the same Jamba Juice orders. We can finish each other sentences. We can pick out clothes that the other would like. I know that you hate your smile, and you know I hate my nose. We both don’t have clean rooms. We like the same movies. I’m very excited about life, and you are laid back. We know exactly what to say to make the other one calm down.

I would take a bullet for you.

I can’t wait to have you help me pick out my wedding dress. I can’t wait to have you be my maid of honor. I can’t wait to have you tell me I look perfect as I look anxiously in the mirror. I can’t wait to have you pace back and the forth when I am having a baby. I can’t wait for me to do all those things for you. I can’t wait to compare teacher stories with each other. I can’t wait for our children to grow up together.

I would take a bullet for you.

You’re my best friend in this whole entire world.

I would take a bullet for you.
